Can you believe it? The Flying Pig Marathon is right around the corner! Well, the start of the grueling training is at least 😉 We’ve got your training calendar all filled out and ready to go for you to start your journey December 17th!
This marathon attracts runners and spectators from all over the world. It is such a well-planned, fun event for an entire weekend of racing, parties, and other shenanigans. Here is the schedule for the weekend’s events, and with 10+ races to run, not to mention parties and expos throughout the entire weekend, there truly is something for everyone. Even your little fur ‘piggies’!
With all that in mind, it truly is time to start planning (if you’re running the Marathon, that is). Marathoning For Mortals by John Bingham and Jenny Hadfield is my favorite marathon training book with regard to running plans, though there are plenty others from which to choose for your learning and training needs. Here are some vegan-based books and I’ve snagged a few of these as well.
In Marathoning For Mortals Bingham and Hadfield discuss tips and techniques to tackle your marathon running goals with confidence and dignity. They provide several different plans including walking, walk-run, running, and for marathon or half-marathons. It truly is a book for anyone anywhere along the path to running better, faster, and longer regardless of skill level or experience. So, I have created this training calendar based on their Running-only plan. Just scroll down, give the link a click, it’ll pop up, and print it out. Do keep in mind the following (if I had lawyers I’m sure they’d make me say it):
1. I am not a physical trainer; YOU do what YOU want and in conjunction with your health care provider’s advice
2. This plan is only ONE of what the book offers, and this plan is for seasoned runners ONLY. If you feel this plan is a bit much, check out other plans either in this book, in another, or with a trainer.
3. I am not taking credit for this plan. I did not construct it, nor am I versed enough in running to have even thought to do so. This is the work of John Bingham and Jenny Hadfield; very talented, experienced, and knowledgeable runners.
4. I am not recommending you follow this plan one way or the other. I created the calendar for myself and thought it would be nice to save others the work, should they choose to follow this particular plan.
You can pick up the full training plan and enjoy this awesome read by clicking the picture. Yes, I’ll get like .03 if you do. No, it won’t be added to your total.
So, if the Flying Pig sounds like something you’d like to do, head on over to here to register and join all of us other crazy folk on the road.
