First off, Raw Food Central did not pay me, nor even ask me, to do this review. After trying some of their products however, I might stand outside of their door and hold up the sign….
I gave them an honorable mention in a previous post about some of the best whole food plant based snacks on the market because a friend had tried them and said they were really good. Well, I figured I’d give them a go myself. Here are my thoughts:
I got four products from them:
Onion Rings, Flax Crackers, Kale Chips, and the Snack Mix.
Here we go, one by one.
The Onion Rings
As far as pre-made packaged food go, these onion rings are better than any other I’ve ever had. Hands down. I’m not lying. Fresh, homemade, hand-battered onion rings are pretty hard to beat so we won’t compare the two since this one is raw food and the other is not. I don’t know what magic ju-ju they cast on this product but I’m honestly mystified as to how these stay crunchy and fresh tasting when a freshly fried/baked one goes soggy as soon as you try to box/bag it up for later. I can only imagine that it is the quality of food selected to make it and perhaps the dehydration process. Regardless, they were absolutely delicious. Oh, and I only had a few as a snack. These bad boys actually went on top of my green bean casserole on Thanksgiving, so there’s that. They are multi-purpose to boot. Grab some for yourself.
Have you ever had Flackers? If you have, then you have a comparison by which to judge when I say these things blow those things out of the water. I have included Flackers in a previous post because so many people like them. They truly are good. These are fantastic. Again, the only downside is that I ran out of them before I got to try them in all the ways I had thought up. I did, however, have them with Kite Hill cream cheese (plain and jalapeño) 🤤
The Kale Chips
Who doesn’t love kale chips? I’m serious. Well, Raw Food Central clearly loves kale chips too, because they do a damn good job at making them. Again, because I’m a weirdo, these weren’t just a reach-in-the-bag-and-chew kind of snack. They went on top of my and my [non-vegan] daughter’s salads as croutons one night. I was surprised enough that she let me put them on it, because we are dealing with the poster child 16-year-old junk food addict here. I was flabbergasted when she asked me if there were more. If you knew my daughter you’d know how monumental this is, translating to just how truly delicious these are.
The Snack Mix
This snack mix here was anything but ‘classic’ as the name denotes. When I think of snack mix I think nuts, dried fruits, maybe some coconut shreds, seeds… That, to me, is classic. This mix was very unique- corn kernels, peas, kale (like the kale chips, not plain kale), sunflower seeds, raisins, and some very complimentary seasonings. I’ll admit, at first glance I was kind of skeptical. I mean, corn and peas? Puh-lease. BUT, I’ll try anything twice so in the bag my little pincer fingers went and the result being another very pleasant surprise. The flavors were delicious and truly did compliment one another. It’s very light, but dense enough to tide you over to your next meal. No bloating, belly issues, nothing- in fact all of their products are very easy on the belly, and virtually hypoallergenic (nuts/seeds).
